Meet Liz, a new face in MCC survivorship programming!
MCC’s team of doctors, nurses, scientists, and educators is determined to be a resource for our patients and community members in all seasons and walks of life—whether you’re looking to reduce your cancer risk, get tips on when and who should be screened for cancer, learn more about new medicines and therapies developed by our scientists and doctors, or receive support while navigating a cancer diagnosis for you or a loved one.
A large part of this support is offered through our Cancer Survivorship Program, a joint effort from the Masonic Cancer Center, M Health Fairview, and the Masonic Cancer Clinic that provides valuable resources and information to help you navigate the many questions that arise throughout a diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. And this year, we’ve added a new member to the Survivorship Program team! We’re thrilled to introduce you to Liz Danley, MCC’s new survivorship events coordinator. Keep reading to learn more about Liz and what she’s most excited about as we look at the year ahead!
What brought you to this work?
I have always had a strong passion for creating events with meaning. I found a love of event planning early in my career and it was while I was working with a cancer-related non-profit in Las Vegas, that I found the point where my passions intersect. I’ve held a variety of roles in event management over the years, but am thrilled to be working on Survivorship programs and supporting our community.
What about your new role are you most excited about?
I’m excited about this role not only because it blends my professional passion of event planning with my desire to be an asset to the community, but I am also excited to learn and grow from this team. I am fortunate to work alongside intelligent, creative, compassionate individuals.
Why is it so important to provide a space for survivors and caregivers to come together?
Survivors and caregivers share similar, yet unique challenges but it’s important for them to know they are not alone. Giving them that space to connect with others, build a strong, supportive community, and navigate their circumstances together promotes both emotional and mental well-being.
As we gear up for the 2024 Survivorship Conference on April 13, which parts of the day are you most looking forward to?
The 2024 Survivorship Conference has so many elements that I hope will be beneficial for survivors and caregivers alike. The perspective of our keynote speakers, the small breakout sessions, and the community partners all contribute to providing that space for building a supportive network.
We’re looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces on Saturday, April 13, 2024 for this year’s Survivorship Conference! Find more information and sign up to attend.
