Helen Parsons, PhD, MPH

Dr. Parsons is trained as a health services researcher, her research focuses on access to care and outcomes for individuals with cancer and other chronic diseases. Her goal is to identify effective strategies to improve the quality and value of healthcare for these individuals. Dr. Parsons has an established research program examining the impact of health policies and innovative programs on use of guideline-recommended care, health equity, financial and logistic burden, access to needed social and community services, and clinical outcomes for cancer survivors. She has expertise in mixed-methods research that is theory-based and grounded in use of implementation science frameworks. She uses a combination of clinical registries, administrative data, population-based databases, surveys, focus groups, and other methodologies to understand the impact of these programs and policies.
