Cathleen Drilling, MBS (she/her/hers) leads the Education and Training team at MCC. In this role, she is responsible for recruiting and supporting the next generation of cancer researchers — with a particular focus on engaging students from communities that have been historically underrepresented in careers in science and medicine. This includes outreach efforts with MN high school students and teachers as well as inreach work supporting the early stage researchers already working or studying at the U.

Before joining MCC, Cathleen previously taught high school science in public, private, and international schools (in Switzerland, Taiwan, and Chile) with a focus on helping students to develop the knowledge, skills, and habits needed to carry out their own independent investigations. She is passionate about making science careers exciting and accessible for diverse learners of all ages. She earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biology from Indiana University and a Master's of Biological Sciences (MBS) at the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience at Georgia State University. Outside of work, Cathleen enjoys cooking elaborate meals and being active outdoors with her husband and their tireless dog.
