Dorothy Hatsukami is Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and holds the Forster Chair of Cancer Prevention and Control. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a PhD in clinical psychology specializing in behavioral pharmacology. She is currently the Associate Director of Cancer Prevention and Control for MCC.

Research
Research Summary/Interests
Her areas of expertise is nicotine addition and its treatment along with tobacco product regulatory science. In her initial years, she worked on characterizing the physical dependence on nicotine and testing a variety of smoking cessation medications including an anti-nicotine vaccine. More recently, she is focusing on examining the effects of various regulatory product standards on tobacco products such as reducing nicotine in cigarettes to minimally addictive levels, banning filter ventilation and reducing toxicants in smokeless tobacco products.
