Masonic Cancer Center welcomes Scott Dehm as co-leader of the Genomics, Cell States, and Signaling Program

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is pleased to announce that Scott Dehm, PhD, was named co-leader of the Genomics, Cell States, and Signaling (GCSS) research program in April 2026. Dehm joins R. Stephanie Huang, PhD, in guiding the program’s scientific direction and supporting collaboration among its members.

The GCSS Program brings together researchers studying the molecular and cellular processes that contribute to cancer development, progression, and treatment response. Program members use approaches spanning genomics, genetics, cell biology, cancer signaling, and computational science to better understand how cancer cells develop and adapt.

Dehm is a professor in the U of M Medical School’s Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and Urology whose research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that drive prostate cancer progression and resistance to therapy, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. 

Dehm succeeds Masato Yamamoto, MD, PhD, who stepped down as program co-leader to take on a new leadership position as Faculty Director for Shared Resource Strategy and Integration. In this role, Yamamoto will provide scientific leadership and strategic oversight for the center’s Shared Resources, working with resource directors, MCC leadership, and institutional partners to support investigator needs and align resources with research priorities. 

Together, this program leadership team will help the GCSS program build connections across disciplines and identify new opportunities to advance its research priorities.
