Cancer becomes most dangerous when it spreads, or metastasizes, to other parts of the body. Yet despite decades of research, we still don’t fully understand how and why this happens. Join us for a Fireside Chat with Eric Rahrmann, PhD, a researcher at the Hormel Institute, who will share how his lab is working to uncover the earliest steps of cancer spread, how cancer cells escape, survive in the bloodstream, and take root in distant organs. Using advanced imaging, genetic tools, and innovative model systems, his team is revealing how everyday stressors like inflammation or organ damage can unknowingly create conditions that support cancer spread. These insights are opening the door to new ways to predict, prevent, and treat metastasis.

Dr. Rahrmann will also introduce the Minnesota Metastasis Research Network (MnMet)—a new statewide effort uniting researchers, clinicians, and communities to tackle metastasis from every angle. He will highlight why this kind of collaboration is urgently needed and how working together can accelerate progress toward better outcomes for patients and families.

Don’t miss this chance to go behind the scenes of cutting-edge cancer research that’s unlocking new possibilities for prevention, treatment, and hope!
